The History Museum and Another Mountain

On Saturday morning, I slept in! This is the first time I haven’t woken up to an alarm in Taiwan. It was a much welcomed, much needed treat. I ate sushi for breakfast and then Skyped my family.
Then we went out to lunch. It was, simply put, one of the best meals of my entire life. We went to a Thai restaurant close to my house. I was at first skeptical because I had only eaten Thai once in the US and did not really enjoy it. However, I was completely blown away! I had these delicious noodles that were a touch spicy and fried shrimp cakes. I enjoyed eating the meal so much, I forgot to take pictures!
After lunch, I met up with Katie at a bus stop to go to the Kaohsiung History Museum. While waiting for the bus, we took some pictures with the Minion display that has been set up at the mall.

We met Brandon at the museum. We saw exhibits on the February 28 Incident, an uprising against the government in Taiwan that was violently suppressed in 1947, and the Jeju Uprising, an attempted insurgency on Jeju, an island that is part of Korea, that was followed by severe government oppression in 1948. I had not know about these two events before so I was grateful for the opportunity to learn more about them.
The history museum also had an exhibit in the kids section where you could photoshop your face into an old picture. The results were comical!

When I arrived back home from the museum, we went to Costco. Preparation for winter were well underway. I found the piles of coats a it comical, especially considering that it won’t get below 60 degrees even at night here.

After eating dinner, I walked to Wenzao for Mass. I came home, played Mariokart with my host brother. I then finished The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis and went to bed.
I woke up at 7am on Sunday morning to go hiking. We again went to Maolin but this time climbed a different mountain. It was hot but luckily there were a lot of clouds. We had a mini-picnic when we got to the top of the mountain. I really enjoyed the hike!

The Waterfall
We went to a restaurant near our house for lunch. Then, we watched the end of both Kung Fu Panda 2 and Toy Story 3 on TV. Then I took a nap. After my nap, I studied a bit before dinner. After dinner, we watched Avengers. I studied some more and then went to bed.
